CELEBRATE NEW BEGINNINGS AT HELPING WITH FURNITURE GALA
Ottawa, Ontario - Award-winning charity, Helping With Furniture (HWF) is pleased to
be hosting its 15th annual Gala and to return to an in-person event this year.
For over 15 years HWF volunteers have been helping refugees, recent immigrants, as
well as people relocating from shelters, leaving abusive situations, struggling with
mental illness or at risk of homelessness by providing gently used furniture, household
goods, refurbished bicycles and laptops to people in Ottawa in need.
As we emerge from the crisis mode of the pandemic, many of us, including our clients
are starting over. Let's celebrate this new beginning together with a wonderful Gala!
Join us at HWF’s Begin Again Gala on May 26th at St. Elias Centre (750 Ridgewood
Avenue) to take part in our live and silent auctions, hear from our inspirational keynote
speaker, and enjoy a delightful meal with lively entertainment.
All of the event proceeds will go directly towards supporting our free, volunteer-run
programs. So far we’ve helped furnish nearly 3,500 Ottawa households, more than
1,000 of which were furnished during the pandemic.
Guests at our Begin Again Gala will hear from keynote speaker Mireille Leroux, co-
founder of Habitations partagées Mirela, on the subject of innovative alternative housing
and enjoy a musical performance by multi-talented artist Amanda Lowe
Warnakulasuriya.
HWF is 100% volunteer-run and our annual Gala is an opportunity for you to help
support all of the work we do. We are very grateful for your generous and charitable
contributions.
